The If I Can Help Somebody non-profit organization held its first meeting on August 30,2008 in
Oakland , California. The purpose of the group is to collectively honor members of the community who have enriched the lives
of others. The founder, Eric Pugh, came up with this idea after deciding to plan an appreciation for one of his favorite gospel
vocalists. As the details for the event started to take shape, he began to think of other deserving persons who might be honored
as well.
So, to help facilitate this work, Eric enlisted several friends to serve as board
members and the group was formed.
